On April 14, 2025, the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project (FileVetRep) participated in an educator’s seminar and workshop held at the stately Founders’ Room at the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois to help bring the stories of Filipino World War II veterans to the classrooms in alignment with Illinois Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History (TEAACH) Act which mandates the inclusion of Asian American history in public K-12 education. Valerie Mendoza, FilVetRep’s Duty to Country (DTC) Outreach Coordinator, made the presentation to about 25 educators from the Chicago area. A small group discussion followed the PowerPoint presentation by Valerie. The South Asian American Policy & Research Institute also participated in the workshop. The event was a huge success.
